Dubai essentially has two seasons: roughly October through April, when the weather is some of the best on earth, and May through September, when it is genuinely, seriously hot. Everything about planning a trip — prices, crowds, what your days look like — flows from that split.

The Peak Season: November to March
Daytime temperatures sit in the mid-20s to low-30s Celsius, evenings are pleasant, and everything outdoors — beaches, desert safaris, rooftop dining, the Marina promenade — is at its best. This is when Dubai is the city in the brochures. It's also when nightly rates on short-term rentals are at their highest, peaking hard around New Year's Eve, when rates on well-located apartments can run several times a normal December night.
The Shoulder Windows: October and April–May
These are the underrated months. October still runs warm — mid-30s in the early weeks — but evenings turn comfortable, the sea is at its warmest, and rates haven't hit their winter peak yet. April is similar in reverse: the weather holds well into the month, crowds thin after Easter, and prices soften noticeably. If your dates are flexible, these windows are where the value sits.
Summer: June to September
Daytime highs regularly exceed 40°C with high humidity, and life moves indoors — malls, indoor attractions, hotel pools in the early morning and evening. It's a completely viable trip if you plan around the heat, and it's by far the cheapest time to visit: accommodation rates drop 30–50% versus winter. Our summer season breakdown covers what that looks like from the operator side, which tells you exactly why guest-side deals are so good.
Events Worth Planning Around
New Year's Eve is the single most expensive night of the year — book months ahead or avoid it entirely. Ramadan shifts each year and changes the daytime rhythm of the city (restaurants operate differently, and the evenings come alive after sunset); it's a fascinating time to visit but worth understanding before you book. The Dubai Shopping Festival runs across winter and adds crowds but also genuine retail deals.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the absolute best month to visit Dubai?
For pure weather, November and March are hard to beat — warm days, comfortable evenings, and slightly softer pricing than the December–January peak.
Is Dubai worth visiting in summer?
Yes, if you're comfortable building your days around air-conditioning and early mornings — and the accommodation savings are substantial. It's a different trip, not a worse one.
How far ahead should I book for peak season?
For December–January, two to three months ahead for good apartment choice; for New Year's Eve specifically, earlier still.
