If You Have More Appetite
Qasr Al Watan (the presidential palace) is a spectacular add-on near the Corniche; Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World on Yas Island suit families and thrill-seekers but each really wants its own full day; and the Corniche itself makes a pleasant late-afternoon stroll. Resist stacking more than three stops — distances within Abu Dhabi are bigger than they look.
Getting There: The Honest Comparison
Driving or private transfer is the most flexible: roughly 75–90 minutes each way from central Dubai. A rental car for the day is the cheapest flexible option if you're comfortable driving; private drivers and organised tours remove the hassle at a premium. The intercity bus from Ibn Battuta or Al Ghubaiba is genuinely cheap and comfortable, but Abu Dhabi's sights are spread out, so you'll be in taxis all day at the other end — fine for the mosque-and-Louvre plan, tedious for more. Leave Dubai by 8:30am to beat the worst traffic and give the mosque its morning light.

Honest take: on a three-day first Dubai trip, skip it — the core itinerary already fills those days better. With young children, the drive-plus-walking combination tests patience.
